Gerbrecht AKA Gary

Why Gary? In other countries then The Netherlands, Belgium and Scotland, Gerbrecht is often hard to pronounce.

Previous to working for carlisle I gained sales experience in Zurich, Melbourne and San Francisco. I like to travel, meet new people and discover other cultures. Therefore, I enjoy my current position for the development of our healthcare business in the European market. Within Carlisle I am responsible for our healthcare products throughout Europe where I work closely together with my colleagues and our customers. I visit many end users to demonstrate our products and bring back the business to our distributor partners. My main goal is to introduce our Smart-Therm induction charger to the healthcare sector, which is a perfect solution for room service within hospitals and care homes. Besides these activities I work closely together with Allan Harvey to develop our business in the BeNeLux.

When I am not traveling for work I like to spend my time with my girlfriend, organize activities with friends, play baseball and basketball and travel for leisure. Furthermore, I would love to learn to play Saxophone, however, I didn’t find the time for it yet. Hopefully this year.

Carlisle on Location - From Oklahoma City to Chicago

In May, the Carlisle FoodService Europe team, along with some of their distributors headed Stateside for the Carlisle International Sales meeting at the Head Office in Oklahoma City as well as attending the NRA show in Chicago. The trip included a visit to the St Francis Hospital, Chicago, where the team had the opportunity to see the Smart Therm II in use.

Due to a number of reports of staff and patients burning themselves on the original stainless steel pallets, the hospital has now replaced their traditional wax base system with our Smart-Therm STS2 sytem. This arrangement has resulted in an excellent track record, with no reported incidents or failure in over two years.

Furthermore, people can now vote for the Smart-Therm on www.innovatietrofee.nl this is an exciting initiative from the VHVG and Kokskwartet. During the DeliXL Foodservice fair in Apeldoorn on the 13th of September they will be handing out the winning prize.

Sirha 22nd - 26th January, Lyon, France

The Sirha fair is the most important Catering Food fair in France. Located in Lyon, this fair has an unrivaled national reach. Carlisle was well placed to present our products to over 165,000 visitors, among an impressive collection of 2,200 exhibiting companies. The visitor turn out has increased by approximately 20% since the 2009 show so it was an excellent year to launch our trade show campaign in this part of the region.

The varied and exciting programme of exhibits included events such as the world baking championship, the European catering cup, and of course “le bocuse d’or”. Carlisle was participating for the first time, and we enjoyed a very warm welcome. We would like to thank all of our direct customers, dealers and end users, who include a diverse range of businesses, from hotels to restaurant chains, independent caterers and restauranteurs, cruise lines and contract caterers.

Sirha attracts such a wide range of businesses because it is THE place to showcase and discover the latest foodservice industry trends…the standard of food, ingredients and foodservice products on show is exceptional. Leading these trends was Carlisle, we were presenting new ranges including Alibi drinkware, the ECOMADE Dayton and Balsam dinnerware and Buffetware ranges as well as the new range of Melamine Laminate Trays.

A successful presence from team Carlisle!

Gafihc - Malaga, Spain 30 th April to 2 nd May - Speed Meeting!

Herve Ross completes 50 meetings a day and a half in an admirable bid to spread the word about Carlisle's offering!

With a total of 250 people participating, the meeting between the 50 Gafihc members and suppliers, is the perfect opportunity to meet members from all over France. Gafihc Group is part of the 3 major customers for Carlisle in France, and members are divided in 2 activities: ARTIS (members specialized in Tableware); and AMATIS (members specialized in Kitchen equipment).

With only 15 minutes to introduce himself, and the Carlisle offer. Herve presented 3 key points to each delegate. The Carlisle “corporate” introduction; Carlisle product promotion, assisted by the new promotional leaflets; and our exciting new products. Particular interest was shown in the New Colored Food Pan range; Melamine dinnerware and Buffet as well as the Modular Deliware. All this within a 4m 2 booth!

The result was great. For the known members, this was a good opportunity to present new products and remind them of Carlisle products for which we are running a specific promotion. For new members, it has been the opportunity to meet people and introduce our brand. The best value was the opportunity to meet every rep.

Herve is now completing the action plan of sending catalogs all new prospects. This will generate requests for samples. Which will be followed up with demonstrations & meetings. For example, there is one member “CHR Discount” which is AMATIS, and will become ARTIS: Discussions are now in progress in order to review the particular Carlisle ranges and products they should carry in stock…

Success at Hotelympia & Internorga

We would like to send a big Thank You to all who visited us at Hotelympia & Internorga this year. Valued existing customers rubbed shoulders with new customers during these two exciting and bustling shows, to witness the unveiling of this year's first wave of new products.

The launch of innovative products from Carlisle included the long awaited new range of Step-On Waste Containers, the details for these can already be found in the Cleaning & Waste Solutions section of our 2010 Catalog.

The new range of Modular Deliware really looked the part on our displays. We demonstrated the ease and flexibility of use along with the numerous display possibilities, which impressed audiences at both shows. We are expecting the orders to reflect the great interest shown, once the product is available for sale.

It is with great anticipation that we await the launch of our innovative Bio-Melamine Buffet Range. The feedback we have received already is very encouraging, and as we complete the preparations for this range of biodegradable and sustainable, GN compatible displayware, we can't wait to launch it to market.

Watch this space!

17 April 2010

Carlisle Raises the Bar at the 2010 HCA conference .

D uring the two day event at the Blackpool Hilton on the 15-16 th April, the major themes provided the ideal backdrop for Carlisle's exhibits, which were received with great interest by a number of key delegates, generating plenty of valuable enquiries.

Key themes: in-line with Carlisle Healthcare Food Service Products

• Performance.
• Hospital of choice.
• Financial restraints.
• Continuous improvements.

The wealth of trade stands exhibiting their latest innovations enjoyed a stream of eager delegates throughout the two days. The schedule for the conference afforded all visitors the time to view our exhibits, following thought-provoking speeches from a number of key note speakers. Of particular interest was Glen Schirg, Executive Vice President, of Room Service Technologies. Glen explained how the rapidly increasing trend of US hospitals responding to the quality agenda is driving an increase in services at the bedside being customer-focused. A’ la Carte meal ordering on demand, at any time of the day.

Barry wells of Foodcare Systems agrees that this was an extremely valuable message to put forward to delegates, in line with the Carlisle Smartherm induction technology on show at the event. MELAMINE

Recently, numerous articles have been published regarding the health effects of consuming melamine when it was discovered that melamine had been used in the manufacture of powdered milk products in China.
Carlisle’s melamine products meet the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) requirements found at FDA 21 CFR 181.32 for use in repeated use articles for direct food contact. In addition, our melamine dinnerware and displayware is certified by the U.S. National Sanitation Foundation (“NSF”) as safe for direct food contact applications. While there may be health risks associated with ingesting melamine, the FDA has determined that fully cured melamine products that come in contact with food will not transfer melamine into food and are therefore, safe for food contact applications.

Your business is important to us. You should be aware that Carlisle FoodService Products is committed to the safety of all of its products. Our goal is to bring you the best possible product at the best possible value. Carlisle FoodService Products constantly monitors the materials industry for new options and opportunities and continues to stay abreast of all FDA and NSF requirements regarding melamine and all other ingredients of its products. Carlisle FoodService will continue to maintain its monitoring efforts and notify you immediately should something change. If you would like to discuss this topic further, please don’t hesitate to call.
